What’s the Color of Your House
research on crossmodal association of color with emotionally weighted house music
What we did
Timeline
Nov-Dec 2024
Brief
We examined crossmodal associations between color and emotion in house music, focusing on how listeners connect emotional tones in music with specific hues.
Overview
Participants listened to four house music excerpts, each designed to convey emotions: powerful, peaceful, aggressive, and lonely. Through a custom-built, unbiased interface, they selected colors that matched the music and described their emotional associations.
Emphasis
As part of the Human Perception in Information Technology course at KTH, I contributed to all aspects of the research and took the lead in designing and developing the online survey to collect participant responses. The study highlights the potential for audio-visual integration in live performances, music education, and emotion-based music indexing systems.
